This beautiful nativity set comes with the stable and the 12 separate characters as seen in the photos. The baby and the manager are two separate pieces. The house consists of small tiles throughout the floor, the back, and the roof. Each is individually cut and carved along with all of the separate pieces including the fences, jugs, the palm tree, etc. A base is used to lay all of the elements on and super-glued. The base of the stable consists of two pieces that are connected through hinges which will allow it to fold for storage. Please see the photos. The characters are each carved from individual logs into three-dimensional characters so you can organize them as you wish. The price includes the stable and pieces as seen in the photos and you can use it as one set or you can also use the characters alone. The star on the stable has under the roof, a mechanical music box that will play “Silent Night” once you rotate the star clockwise. Each of the items has a protective coating to ensure longevity and to make it easier for cleaning. Handle with care.

Olive wood trees in The Holy Land are dating back to Jesus’ time. The olive tree is considered a holy tree in the Holy Land, and the trees are only trimmed, for healthier growth. Since olive wood has a rich grain, it is considered an exotic wood so it is in high demand in the Holy Land, with its limited resources. So the quality of the carving and the size of the logs used will dictate its pricing. Because it takes a long time for olive trees to grow, the younger trees have smaller limbs and little to no grain. The trees start to produce the grain as they age so the more grain you see in a piece is an indication of an older tree. Olive wood tree trimmings are purchased from local farmers by artists. Then, the work can begin and these beautiful pieces are carved.
The artists hand-carve these items with care and precision. Each piece is unique and one-of-a-kind because the wood grain varies, creating beautiful pieces of art from The Holy Land.
