Beautiful, Olivewood Rosary from The Holy Land.
Olivewood Rosary
Olivewood trees are considered a holy tree since they date back to Jesus’ time. The olive trees are only trimmed, for healthier growth. Since olivewood has a rich grain, it is considered an exotic wood. It is in high demand in the Holy Land, since there are limited resources. The quality of the carvings and the size of the logs used will establish its pricing. Since it takes a long time for olive trees to grow, the younger trees have smaller limbs with little to no grain. The olive trees start to produce the grain as they age so the more grain you see in a piece, the older the tree. Olive wood tree trimmings are purchased from local farmers by artists. Then, the work can begin and these beautiful pieces are carved.
The artists hand-carve these items with care and precision. Each piece is unique and one-of-a-kind because the wood grain varies. Because of this, beautiful pieces of art are created from olivewood in The Holy Land. As a result, you’ll be amazed at the workmanship that goes into each piece, when you visit the Holy Land. These beautiful items are wonderful for precious gifts and keepsakes. Since tourism in Bethlehem has suffered in recent years and the artists have little to no way of selling their pieces, it’s important to support the Christian artists that carve these gorgeous works of art.
